Troubleshooting Tips

The following are a few common troubleshooting tips that may help resolve issues accessing or using library resources. Please search our FAQs for help with issues specific to a database or system like error messages, login directions, broken links in Brightspace, etc.

FIRST:

Check your browser settings. Cookies, Javascript, and Java should be enabled on a recommended browser. If you have questions please contact the IT Help Desk.

SECOND:

Make sure that a setting on your browser or computer is not interfering with your access to library resources:

THIRD:

Try using a different browser or updating your current browser. Some library resources run best on certain browsers or require a certain version of a browser. Here are some commonly used browsers and links to install or update them to the newest versions:

STILL NOT WORKING?

There are a number of other factors which can result in difficulties accessing or using library resources. Consider exploring the links below for more troubleshooting options or report the issue using the I Need Tech Help! form for further assistance.

  • Check the status of the library resources you are having trouble with to determine if there is a known issue we are working to correct, if the resource is down or disrupted for maintenance, if there is an outage, etc. If you're having trouble with another University service like Brightspace, mySNHU, email, etc. check the status of these systems.
  • If you are using a database, check the description (available under the database name in on the A-Z Database List) to determine if an additional login is required, if the database only works in certain browsers or have unique functionality, etc.
  • Make sure you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer.
