This week's post is written by a special contributor...Virtual Reference Librarian, Gwen Smith!
The library offers many statistics databases (see a list of them here), but Statista is the easiest to use and has the most visually appealing charts and graphics. If that is not enough, they also provide suggested citations in all the major citation styles and their charts and graphs can be downloaded into the following formats: PNG, PDF, XLS, and PPT. Their data is gathered from over 22,000 sources and, with a team of over 200 statisticians, database experts, analysts, and editors, Statista provides users with an innovative and intuitive tool for researching quantitative data, statistics and related information.
Our subscription gives us access to not only their statistics, but also dossiers (anywhere from 50-150 pages of the most relevant data and statistics on a topic or company), country and industry reports, outlook (forecast) reports, surveys, and toplists (top companies in certain industries). Here are just a few of their most popular items right now:
Their infographics are a lot of fun, too! Here’s a recent one:
Please contact a librarian if you have any questions about Statista or if you would like help finding statistics on your topic.
