This guide will provide links to library resources, services, and databases that support COCE students' research for this course.

APA Style

APA Style, currently in its 6th edition, is a citation protocol established by the American Psychological Association. This style was developed to ensure consistency and to provide style rules for scientific writing.

APA is most often used in the disciplines of:

  • Social Sciences (including Psychology, Education, Sociology, Economics, Criminal Justice, etc.)
  • Business
  • Nursing

What does APA Style include?

  • the format & structure of your paper
  • how you cite other authors within the body of your paper
  • how you compile a references page at the end of your paper

For more information and examples, check out the Atomic Learning video playlist and other resources below. You may be asked to sign in with your SNHU email and my.snhu password when accessing Atomic Learning.

Writing Help

There are several options that online students can use to get writing help from the Online Writing Center (OWC).

You can get written feedback by submitting your paper to the OWC through your Blackboard course. Once you've submitted your paper, you can access written feedback from the OWC using the same link within about 24 hours.

You can make an appointment with a writing coach using the OWC's scheduling tool or contact them with inquiries using this form.

Finally, the OWC's website has a number of writing resources you can use and their YouTube channel provides a series of videos on topics like citing sources, revising and editing, writing theses, annotated bibliographies, and more.
