Office of Diversity and Inclusion Mission Statement
We will develop and advance university strategy to attract, engage, and retain richly diverse learners and employees, strengthen the bonds of our pluralistic community with equity literacy, cultural competency, and inclusive policies and practices, and advocate for just experiences for all.
We will strive to nurture a culture free of racism, sexism, classism, ableism, and any form of prejudice and discrimination so that we can realize a vision of radical belonging and agency in public and private spaces where individuals feel free to share their identities and perspectives through civil discourse, critical and appreciative inquiry, and rejection of any degradation of human dignity.
We will champion human rights and social justice, leaning heavily on restorative practices that are designed to build community, repair harm, value fair process, and honor all voices by holding up the values of justice, forgiveness, truth, and reconciliation.
