Shapiro Library Information Literacy Statement
Shapiro Library is dedicated to empowering students to be confident finders, users, and creators of information in a complex information landscape. Our mission is to facilitate informed access to library collections and services, and to help develop critical thinking as a lifelong skill within a user-centered learning approach. Our goal is to ensure that graduates of Southern New Hampshire University are information literate: able to discover, organize, analyze, reflect upon, create, and ethically share information in order to achieve success in their academic, professional, and personal endeavors.
"Information literacy is the set of integrated abilities encompassing the reflective discovery of information, the understanding of how information is produced and valued, and the use of information for creating new knowledge and participating ethically in communities of learning."
