Course Reserves
Reserve materials are kept at the information desk and may be checked out with SNHU ID. To place course material on reserve, review the Shapiro Library Course Reserve Policies below and complete a Reserve Request Form This link opens in a new window. Please bring all items to be placed on Reserve to the Information Desk immediately after completing the form.
Forms will be processed in the order that they are received on a first-come, first-served basis and should be submitted at least two weeks before students need access to the material.
What May be Placed on Reserve
- Circulating books owned by the Library
- Books owned by the faculty member or department, including textbooks
What May Not be Placed on Course Reserve
- Reference books
- Material borrowed through Interlibrary Loan
- Materials collated from more than one copyrighted source without the written permission of each copyright holder.
- Photocopies of individual articles or book chapters. Please use Brightspace to make documents accessible to students while respecting fair use as defined in United States Code Section 17 U.S. Code § 107. If Shapiro Library owns a book that contains a chapter you’d like to place on reserve, library staff will place the book on reserve.
Professor Copies
Faculty are encouraged to lend personal copies of required course texts to the library for reserve use. These items will undergo minimal physical processing, including the addition of a library bar code. At the end of the semester or their Reserve period, materials will be removed from circulation and can be picked up by owning faculty from the Information Desk. The library is not responsible for materials damaged during normal use.
Loan Periods
Faculty may specify any of the following loan periods for reserve material:
- 2 hours (in-library use only)
- 4 hours
- 24 hours
Holds may not be placed on reserve material.
Accessibility
Please note it is the responsibility of every employee to make sure materials for classes at SNHU are accessible, or can be made accessible*, for all students, including those with visual, hearing, or print-based reading disabilities.
