How to Use the Library Book Search


You can search for books and physical materials by using the Library Book Search. The catalog is a list of all the print resources the library has on the third floor of the the Wolak Learning Center.

How to Search for Books Using the Library Book Search

  1. Go to the Library Book Search.
  2. Enter your search terms in the search box (e.g., keyword, author, title).
  3. Click the magnifying glass icon or press "Enter" to submit your search.
  4. Your search results will appear in a list ordered by relevancy, with the most relevant results at the top.

When viewing your results, look for:

  • Location: The library location where the physical item is available.
  • Call Number: The code used to locate the item on the library shelves.
  • Status: Indicates if the material is available, checked out, or restricted to in-library use.

Using the Advanced Search

If you are looking for physical materials or want to refine your search further, you can use the Multi-Search advanced search feature. This tool allows you to:

  • Search for physical materials by limiting results to the library catalog.
  • Apply specific search options, such as searching by title, author, or subject.
  • Use filters and limiters to refine your search by material type, location, and more.

These tools help ensure your search results are more targeted and specific to your needs.

  1. Go to the Multi-Search.
  2. Uncheck Electronic Full Text and check Catalog Only to focus on physical materials.
  3. Enter your search terms in the appropriate fields, such as title, author, or subject.

 

  1. Explore additional search options, including:
    • Search Modes: Choose to find all your search terms, any of your search terms, or use proximity searching.
    • Limiters: Apply filters such as peer-reviewed materials, specific locations, or publication date ranges.
    • Locations: Focus your search on a specific library section, such as the Education Resource Collection (ERC) or Popular Fiction.
  2. Click "Search" to view your results, tailored based on your selections.
