Company Information
The focus of this guide is to provide resources for locating information on domestic and international companies
Research by Company Type
The following infographic explores the differences in researching public companies, private companies, and subsidiaries.
Company Information
Here are some things to keep in mind as you begin your company research:
- Not all information is publicly available. Companies may not want their competitors knowing how they do what they do!
- Know if your company is public, private, or a subsidiary. This may dictate which library resources you turn to for information, as some may only cover public companies. In the case of subsidiaries, you may need to look to the parent company for certain information.
- Try the company's website, too! Many large companies, like Walmart, will have a corporate site that is separate from the site where consumers do their shopping (in Walmart's case, it is https://corporate.walmart.com/).
