IDS 404 - Popular Culture

Course guide developed specifically for IDS 404 to help support the research and learning processes.

Popular Culture

We can learn a lot about people from their culture. In large, industrial and commercialized cultures like ours, we can also learn about people from produced media, popular art, and high selling products. These things can tell us a lot about the views and values held and upheld by a society. To learn more, check out the research starter on this topic

Research starters, a kind of encyclopedia article available in the library's multi-search tool, don't make good sources for your academic papers because the information they contain is very broad. They are great for getting a good sense of the themes in an area of research, a general history, and subject specific terms that might make good keywords for your in depth research later.

The video How Abraham Lincoln Shaped American Politics and Popular Culture explores how Abraham Lincoln inspires popular culture and politics.
