Pediatric care includes a broad range of services to address the physical, mental, and social or behavioral health of children. Care services include preventive health care as well as diagnosis and treatment for acute and chronic illnesses. Healthcare providers should have a base line knowledge of growth and development, behavior, social and environmental influences, immunizations, and anticipatory guidance. It is also important to realize the differences between children and adults as well as the constant developmental changes in children in order to provide patient-centered care.
