Articles
If a cited or abstracted article that you have found via the Shapiro Library's databases does not include the full text content, we'll be happy to get it for you through our interlibrary loan service.
Interlibrary Loan provides current SNHU students, faculty, faculty emeritus, and staff with access to material not held at Shapiro Library. To place a request, please login to your Interlibrary Loan account using your mySNHU username and password. The first time you login you will need to fill out a brief registration form. Most requests are filled within 3-5 business days. Before placing a request for materials from another library, please check the Library Book Search or Publication Finder to be sure that the Shapiro Library does not own the material that you are requesting. For more information, please e-mail the Interlibrary Loan Office at ill@snhu.eduu or call 603.668.9605.
Books
If you are a student, faculty, or staff person eligible for Off Campus Library Services you may request delivery of ILL books. Enter the phrase "I am an Off-Campus Student" in the "Notes" or "Comments" of the Request Form that you are submitting to expedite the ILL process.
Here is the link to Shapiro Library's Interlibrary Loan Login Screen.
As in the case of checking out books from the Shapiro Library's own book collection; we will pay outgoing postage costs and you will be responsible for paying the return postage for items sent to you. Using the U.S. Postal Service's "Library Mail" rate is an option. Please plan on 10 to 16 days lead time for book delivery. Lending periods will vary by lending library. ILL requests should be limited to 5 books at a time.
One database that can be used to both identify and borrow books through our Interlibrary Loan service is called WorldCat. See the box below for more information including accessing its built-in Request Form.
WorldCat
WorldCat is a database of over 1.5 billion items located in over 10,000 libraries.
To request an item not owned by Southern New Hampshire University, click on its title in the search results list to bring up its Detailed Record. Click the Request Item through Interlibrary Loan button, fill in the requested information, enter the phrase "I am an Off-Campus Student" in the "Notes" or "Comments" of the Request Form, and click "Submit."
