NAICS & SIC Classifications

The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is "is the standard used by Federal statistical agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy."

You can search NAICS at the U.S. Census Bureau.

The older Standard Industry Classifications (SIC) is still in use and can be searched at the U.S. Dept of Labor.

Equivalency tables between the two systems can be found at the U.S. Census Bureau.
